LOGICAL FAILURE: Logical failure occurs when the basic file system is corrupted. An example would be when a virus attacks or you lose a partition. The media is still mechanically intact but you can no longer access the data. Using standard software utilities to attempt self-recovery could render your data unrecoverable. Most standard software utilities are good for preventive maintenance but could cause irreparable damage when there are already logical problems. |

Some

PHYSICAL FAILURE: This
type of failure will occur because of head crashes, power failures,
and many other situations. Diagnosing a power failure in this case
can be fairly simple. You can see the burnt components, a cut trace
or scratched media. Etc. Sometimes it’s a combination of all
of these. It takes experience and expertise to choose the right procedure
to fix the media and then recover your data. |
